Abstract
Composite Ultra Lightweight Automotive Suspension Components (CUSP)
This project aims to develop and comercialise the first high volume and economically viable composite suspension system. By developing novel composite concepts, 55% weight reductions over typical small car (A segment) components can be achieved, whilst providing economic production in low to high volumes. The programme will develop material and process solutions and apply them to the design and manufacture of a vehicle suspension system. The system will be proven to industry standards on an ultra light weight vehicle, demonstrating class equivalent performance, and reduced environmental impact.
