Abstract
CST Corporation propose a proof of concept project to develop basic prototype device of a
new ConcTest, which will allow rapid and accurate prediction of ‘wet’ concrete strength.
Manufacturers and users of concrete products experience issues due to the requirement to wait
28 days until the cured product can be tested for strength. Also if the poured concrete falls
below the specification, costly remedial work is required; this leads to manufactures relying
on costly over-specified formulations. We intend to build and test a prototype device based on
our patented methodology. The device will be able to quickly and accurately predict the
eventual strength of concrete before pouring, reducing delays and cost. The device is unique
and removes the need for batch sampling; for the first time all batches of concrete can be
checked that they meet the required specification.
