CrowdMission supporting Bioscience

Lead Participant: CROWDMISSION

Abstract

CrowdMission is a start-up business that wishes to support businesses with strong social capital. We believe that this includes those in the agrifood and bioscience business sector. This is a sector that can achieve massive societal impact through improvements to crops including where crops can grow, crop yield, animal performance and conversion of feedstuffs that mitigates against ecological pollution and one for which there is a lot of empathy among a sympathetic and engaged public who wish to see cost reductions and efforts to mitigate against ecological damage from farming. How to identify and engage innovators in this sector is a challenge however, for CrowdMission.
For emerging bioscience companies, early-stage funding is being squeezed in the current economic climate and new sources of investment are needed. Crowdfunding (CF) is a fast growing initiative through which businesses pitch directly to investors and people interested in the impact of the work they are undertaking. CrowdMission wishes to understand the agrifood sector and bring to it the potential of CF to increase business expansion and technology innovation.
Using an Innovation Voucher to cover costs, CrowdMission wishes to meet with agrifood start-ups in universities and on science parks to learn from them how CrowdMission can best tailor its CF platform and build a new product to help these businesses develop new technology-based products, tools and services with public support.
