Opportunities for UV Fluorescence monitoring in the Paper Industry

Lead Participant: CHELSEA TECHNOLOGIES

Abstract

The pulp and paper BREF requires better emissions control and measurement. Daily random or 3 hour composite samples provide data on effluent quality yet real-time measurements are needed to reduce impacts of in-process disturbances on final effluent quality. CTG’s UV fluorescence-based techniques are used in municipal WWTPs to provide real time levels of BOD. The applicability of CTG techniques to measure water quality in critical paper industry applications are investigated in this project.
