Project Plymouth - An electronic tag using multiple existing location technologies.
Lead Participant:
EXTRONICS LTD
Abstract
Existing location technologies such as active RFID via Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth Low Energy are currently available separately. All have drawbacks that make them unsuitable for indoor/outdoor tracking. Extronics intends to combine the strengths of these technologies into a single innovative new tag. That tag will be the world’s first single device to seamlessly transition between indoor and outdoor location accurately and cost-effectively. The tag will be certified for safe operation in potentially explosive atmospheres worldwide, and will communicate with our existing software for full Internet of Things connectivity and site-wide visibility. Such functionality will make Extronics more competitive and drive increasing revenue.
