Description The funding provided by the AHRC enabled Dr Robb Robinson and Dr Nicholas Evans to help research and advise the preparation of over 40 radio programmes and numerous television programmes for the BBC's World War One at Home series. These can be accessed via https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01p34cd (Radio Humberside) or https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01p34j4 (Radio Lincolnshire). In addition, a substantial number of media enquiries relating to the Great War and associated activities have been received and processed. A number of requests for materials and ideas from teachers have also been fielded. Robb Robinson was also asked to collaborate with a local theatre company and act as their historical advisor. More generally, information and ideas helped Hull museums to develop their own exhibition about how Hull was involved with the First World War. Dr Robinson has also played a key role in the campaign to bring a trawler used during the First World War back to Hull - see http://www.violatrawler.net/.

Results and Impact Using knowledge and research on the Great War at sea, I was asked by Estuary TV to assist in a community based programme they were making on the role of Fishermen working as minesweepers on requisitioned trawlers during the conflict. I provided background research and made a substantial contribution to the programme as a 'talking head'. The programme was first shown in autumn 2016 and has been screened on Estuary TV almost every week since that date. It is also available on YouTube.
