Description PROJECT WITH ROYAL ARMOURIES
Substantial research input to Royal Armouries Second World War exhibition - opening on 8 May 2020 - enabling the exhibition to tell stories in more detail. The research also shaped the directions the exhibition has taken by changing perceptions of the war and the themes the museum wished to discuss. Public lecture at the Armouries on 25/10/19 'Band of Brothers: The British and Germany Infantrymen of the Second World War'. Book to be written by Alexander Shaw and published by Royal Armouries as part of their Talking Point series of illustrated research books - 'The British Infantry Section: Weapons and Tactics in the Second World War' (contract pending)

PROJECT WITH ALRED GILLET TRUST
Educational resources:
- Two schemes of work (for Year 3 and Year 5); these are now incorporated into two schools' yearly planning and they intend to repeat the unit again next year and probably further into the future.
- materials to support a heritage walk around the town. Conducted and led by Alison Horgan in 2019, however school staff are confident that they could replicate in future years. 120 copies of the printed booklet to accompany the walk are stored at the Trust. The electronic form is available to schools to print. Similarly for all the resources to run workshops and activities on the 3 off site days.
Other:
- New and strong cross-community links, between AGT and three local primary schools, and also between these groups and Millfield school, a private school which has absorbed the Clarks' Millfield House. Also a newly established connection between Historic England 'Heritage Schools' programme and the AGT and the local schools. Two schools have
now completed 85% of the requirements for 'Heritage Schools' status.
- Co-creation of a community art project - globe and map - as part of the summer even 'The World Comes to Street' on display at Millfield House. 160 new visitors to the trust came and participated in this project.

PROJECT WITH GRIMM & CO
Worked with local children to explore the heritage of Wentworth Woodhouse in engaging, innovative, artistic, inclusive and accessible ways, and to devise, create and deliver their own pieces of work for the "We Wonder Festival". For the first time in its history, the gardens at Wentworth Woodhouse were open to the general public. The children's work was performed and showcased to 2000 visitors to the festival. The work showcased to this audience included a promenade theatre piece written by 14-17 year olds, songs performed by musicians which had been written by young people aged 11-13, poems on display written by 8 - 12 year olds, as well as magical encyclopedia entries and lonely heart tree ads created by 10 - 17 year olds. Seeing this work on display helped the children/young people grow in confidence about their creative writing. Because the subject matter of these creations was the history of Wentworth Woodhouse, the festival also helped visitors to engage with the history of the site. Based upon the success of the festival, Grimm & Co. and Wentworth Woodhouse are already planning for a follow-up event for next summer.

PROJECT WITH HARDWICK HALL (NATIONAL TRUST)
Research to create a new exhibition in the serving room, kitchen and still room and a 'meet the researcher' event. This exhibition was based on several research reports for the volunteers and staff at Hardwick, which contained a lot of new information about the nineteenth century, which had previously been a gap in knowledge. The main output was the exhibition which focused on the social history of Hardwick Hall in the nineteenth century. This included a collaborative artwork completed by the visitors, displays about food deliveries and the French chef, and stories about individuals who worked and lived at the Hall. Report produced for the National Trust based on feedback, with recommendations for future use of the research.

PROJECT WITH GOBBLEDEGOOK
Creation of a new interactive show called "When Wild Beasts Roamed the Country" focusing on Frank Bostock's Victorian travelling menageries. The show has a combination traditional exhibition and hands-on activities taking the form of a game. New collaborations were established with V&A Museum of Childhood (exploring their collection of Victorian Toys), the Museum of Hackney (to look at the specific historical context of the area), The Grant Museum of Zoology (to explore how the Victorian animal trade in affected the advancement of science) and the Zoological Society of London (to look at how the era influenced the development of modern zoos).

PROJECT WITH ROUTLEDGE, TAYLOR & FRANCIS
Creation of an interactive bombing map for the UK based a full dataset of every bombing raid on the UK between 1939 and 1945. This is accompanied by a detailed written methodology hosted alongside the map and an essay analysing the data finding accessed via War, State and Society. This project received substantial media interest.

Exploitation Route All projects were designed for their outputs to be transferable and the knowledge and materials created to be used by others. The Royal Armouries museum's redesigned WWII exhibition will be open to visitors from May 2020 with a programme of associated WWII events. Teachers in Street in Somerset have embedded the educational materials produced in the project with the Alfred Gillett Trust in their teaching plans. The We Wonder festival is already planned for summer 2020 at Wentworth Woodhouse. The exhibition below stairs in Hardwick Hall is open and will be available for access by all visits for several years to come. The When Wild Beasts Roamed the Country exhibition is planned to be mobile in 2020 giving more children the opportunity to experience this innovating installation. The WWII bombing map is available as an easily accessible historical resource for any researchers interested in the bombing history of WWI in the UK.
