Description | We coordinated with a team of Japanese colleagues interested in participating in a 2-day conference. We decided to attach to the International Chromosome Conference in Bankok, Thailand as a satellite meeting. A full program was developed and followed. Travel expenses for 6 speakers were paid from the BBSRC budget. |
Exploitation Route | Meeting was announced in public and attendance will be open. By attaching as a satellite to another meeting, we had hoped to increase impact. This was successful as we had an audience of about 70 persons, with many locals from the nascent Thai community. |
Sectors | Agriculture, Food and Drink,Education,Environment,Healthcare,Culture, Heritage, Museums and Collections,Pharmaceuticals and Medical Biotechnology,Other |
Description | The final scientific session was chaired by Dr Shinichi Ogawa: Prof. Susumu Uchiyama spoke about "Construction of cell lines for metaphase chromosome ChIP using CRISPR/Cas9 system", then Prof. Kiichi Fukui gave a Closing Speech. Prof. Ian Robinson and Prof. Kiichi Fukui then conducted a discussion for future grant applications and SACLA beamtime. Tow collaborative Human Frontiers gransts were then submitted, but neith was successful in attracting further funding. The beamtime application to |

PI Contribution | Grant BB/L026260/1 was used to fund travel and accomodation for the 2nd UK-Japan Chromosome Workshop, held on 1st May 2015 in Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand. It was a satellite meeting of the Asian Chromosome Conference (ACC) held the same week from April 29 to May 1, 2015 at Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand. The Programme started on Friday 1st May 2015 with Prof. Ian Robinson giving a Welcome Speech and Dr Kornsorn Srikulnath providing an "Introduction to Kasetsart University". The first scientific session on X-RAY IMAGING was chaired by Prof. Susumu Uchiyama: Prof. Yoshinori Nishino spoke about "Chromosome structure as Revealed by X-ray Scattering", then Dr Mohammed Yusuf spoke about "Chromosome sample preparation for X-ray Imaging", then Dr Joerg Schwenke spoke about "Quantitative phase imaging of human chromosomes and nuclei using X-ray diffraction", then Dr Bo Chen spoke about "A Brief Comparison of SEM and TXM Imaging of Human Chromosomes". The second scientific session on FLUORESCENCE MICROSCOPY was chaired by Prof. Stanley Botchway: Prof. Hans de Jong spoke about "Advanced high-resolution microscopy status and prospects. An Overview", then Dr Naoki Wada spoke about "A hybrid cell line between human and plant", then Ms Gina Ratnasari spoke about "Single chromatid chromosome preparation using RNAi", then Ms Rinyaporn Pengchat spoke about "The effect of calcium ion on chromosome structure". The third scientific session on HIGH RESOLUTION - FLUORESCENCE MICROSCOPY was chaired by Prof. Hans de Jong: Prof. Stanley Botchway spoke about "New fluorescent probes for chromosome imaging: FLIM-PLIM and beyond", then Mr Christophe Lynch spoke about "Super Resolution imaging of chromosomes", then Ms Rawin Poonperm spoke about "Study of KIF4 localization in mitotic chromosomes", then Ms Ana Estandarte spoke about "FLIM Imaging of chromosomes". The fourth scientific session on ELECTRON MICROSCOPY was chaired by Prof. Yoshinori Nishino: Dr Shinichi Ogawa spoke about "He microscope for imaging of soft materials such as chromosome", then Mr Teruo Hashimoto spoke about "3D Serial Block face imaging preparation and applications", then Mr Kohei Kaneyoshi spoke about "Inner chromosome structure observed by FIB/SEM". |
