Description The main objectives of this collaborative award were:
(i) Organise exchange visits of Indian and UK investigators.
(ii) Knowledge transfer
(iii) Create a research networkDrs Tempe
(iv) Link and integrate new and existing research projects
(v) Joint grant submissions
(vi) Technology transfer
Scientific meetings were organised by both Indian partners in July 2014 and attended by Drs Temperton and Scott (Kent) and Daly.
A 2.5-day scientific meeting with around 50 attendees (Emerging Viruses 2015) was organised by Dr Daly at the University of Nottingham in July 2015. This was attended by Dr Kumanan who presented a keynote speech, Drs Temperton and Scott (Kent) and Dr Wright (Westminster). The BBSRC was also represented at this meeting, delivering a workshop on funding opportunities. The UK partners (Drs Daly, Temperton and Wright) gave presentations at a 3-day workshop on 'Sustainable Animal Production - Recent trends and future challenges in disease diagnosis' at TANUVAS in July 2016. The workshop, which was open to early-career researchers from across India, provided morning lectures and afternoon practical sessions. Dr Daly co-organised a second Emerging Viruses meeting at the University of Cambridge in 2017, which was attended by all UK partners and Dr Subbiah (NIAB)
Dr Aravindh Babu R Parthiban visited the Virus Pseudotype Unit in 2015.
Dr Rathnapraba was awarded a University of Nottingham visitor fellowship for 12 weeks in 2015.
A network of interested researchers has been established with additional UK and Indian partners. The associated website will stay active beyond the duration of the funding.
Reagents and samples have been exchanged between the TANUVAS and the Viral Pseudotype Unit partners.
Dr Daly and Dr Kumanan have received funds from the British Council for collaborative research.
