Description This is a travel award for fostering collaboration in synthetic biology between U. Liverpool's GeneMill and DOE Joint Genome Institute (USA). In the early years of the award, there was staff exchange in both directions, allowing us to learn about methods related to genomics and gene synthesis in use at both sides, with good knowledge exchange. However, the award was planned to have most of the activities in the last 2 years, which was hit by the pandemic when we couldn't travel. As such, we returned the bulk of the budget to BBSRC, since we were not able to spend funding on other activities.
