Description This was a desk-based study of the commercial relevance and market potential of using newly-identified pathogen LPMO genes as targets for RNAi-based crop protection targets. The report drew very positive conclusions, and encouraged us to apply for follow-on funding to develop this topic.
Exploitation Route We will work on developing small double-stranded RNA based crop protectuion products.

Description The findings from the project helped underpin a successful Super follow on fund project "Targeting plant pathogens through LPMO gene silencing" (r21215) with involvement of two companies. In this project (led by Katherine Denby) we are investigating the efficacy of using double stranded RNA molecules targetting the silencing of LPMO genes in plant pathogens as a crop protection strategy.
