An Emerging Role for Chloroplasts in Disease and Defense
in Annual Review of Phytopathology
Description | The ongoing work has revealed a key role for the chloroplast in systemic immunity and these concepts were articulated in a high profile review on in Annual Review of plant pathology in 2021. Covid has restricted international travel but we have identified a number of early SAR signals that may shed light on how SAR established broad spectrum immunity to insects, viruses, fungi, oomycetes and bacteria. disc than first thought. |
Exploitation Route | Further characterisation of the active signalling molecules and their effacacy on a range of crops may lead to a significant research application related to sustainable agriculture. We have been funded by NSF/BBSRC; BB/X013049/1 "Anatomy and functions of LTP interactomes and their relationship to small RNA signals in systemic acquired resistance to continue this work. |
