Advanced waveguide laser source development using ultrafast laser inscription

Abstract

Description We fabricated a compact, mode-locked, waveguide laser source using ultrafast laser inscription.
Exploitation Route Ultrafast laser inscription exhibits a number of distinct advantages over conventional waveguide fabrication technologies. The first is its material flexibility, the second is its unique 3-D fabrication capability and the third is its direct-write nature. We are currently in discussions with two investors interested in developing the technology further.
