Abstract

Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.

Hanany A (2015) Hilbert series for theories with Aharony duals in Journal of High Energy Physics

Description This grant has been used to cover the costs of organising a workshop on recent developments in N=2 supersymmetric four-dimensional gauge theories and their string duals under the gauge/string correspondence. The workshop took place at City University London on the 13th and 14th of May.

The workshop brought together some of the leading international researchers in the field who present their results in 45 minute talks. The participants of the workshop were able to hear about the latest developments in the field during the presentations. The talks were aimed at an expert audience and gave a thorough overview of the state-of-the art in the area.

The workshop web-pages provided practical information for participants during and before the workshop. We have subsequently maintained the web-pages and have included the the programme of talks as well as PDF files of the speakers' presentations.

The workshop was very well attended, both by international and UK researchers - there were 50 registered participants. In this way we brought together a critical mass of researchers in the field. We provided ample time for interactions between participants both during question times following the talks and during the lunch and coffee/tea intervals. The atmosphere during the workshop was very lively and stimulating.

The workshop participants included a large number of younger researchers, who were able to interact with the more established members of the research community; we feel this aspect of the workshop was useful in contributing to the research training of younger researchers.

We received very positive comments from many of the participants about the format and content of the workshop. There was considerable interest in organising a similar event in the not-too-distant future to build on the links established during this workshop.
