Description Placing metal selective ligands on a series of supports leads to nitric acid concentration dependence of their selectvity for americium over europium. In addition, at low nitric acid concentration, americium and curium can be separated. Finally, a new family of ligands that selectively extracts precious metals has been developed.
Exploitation Route Ground water remediation, legacy nuclear waste clean-up, precious metal extraction and separation.
