Description The research has been used to help formulate standards and policy in the area of road lighting. Whilst the impact of not been large they have helped to inform the discussion around the current revision of the road light standard BS5489-1 and the have helped in some work with Highways England, identifying problems in underpasses and short tunnels. In the past year members of the team involved in the research have used there knowledge in the redrafting of the European Standards for road lighting (EN 13201 series). The work has been mainly focused on the standards EN 13201-3 that covers the calculation of road lighting and EN 13201-4 that is about the measurement of road lighting.
