Abstract

Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.

Title MENtOR DOM Builder
Description Companion to the MENtOR FOM, integrated into the MENtOR Federation Hub. Graphical user interface used to configure a federation by creating a Document Object Model (DOM), an XML file that specifies the components and base attributes of the federation. The federation hub can then use the DOM to automatically create the objects of the federation and assign initial attributes. Component federates are then able to join the federation and acquire ownership of the created objects to update their attributes in accordance with their simulation outputs. DOM builder automatically parses FOM modules to extract the available object tree and associated attributes.
Type Of Technology Webtool/Application
Year Produced 2021
Impact Significantly reduces initial workload involved in creating a federation using the MENtOR FOM.

Title MENtOR Federation Hub Application
Description The MENtOR federation hub app is a piece of software built to configure, initialise and run the MENtOR federation for distributed simulation of novel rotorcraft configurations. The application allows a user to create and run a distributed simulation of an aircraft, as well as set the parameters of the federation. It also acts as a simulation control federate that can set initial conditions and model parameters, and run, pause and reset a simulation, a control input federate that allows the user to feed the flight model custom control inputs, and a monitoring federate to log outputs of the simulation.
Type Of Technology Webtool/Application

Impact The application allows for user interaction with the MENtOR distributed simulation federation without needing to develop custom applications for each partner of the MENtOR programme.

Title MENtOR Federation Object Model Initial Draft
Description The MENtOR Federation Object Model (FOM) is a new HLA FOM for distributed simulation of single aircraft platforms using multiple discrete simulation federates to model components and subsystems of the whole aircraft. Additional modules added to facilitate distributed environment simulation.
Type Of Technology Webtool/Application
Year Produced 2020
Impact Enables distributed simulation of single aircraft platforms between partners in the MENtOR programme through HLA technology. This allows for detailed physical modelling of single aircraft that would not otherwise have been possible through a single independent simulation, where it is limited both by available computing power and the expertise of the modeller.
