Road lighting and cycling: A review of the academic literature and policy guidelines
in Journal of Cycling and Micromobility Research
| Description | We have found that lighting levels are associated with active travel levels. A literature review (Vidal-Tortosa et al. 2023, 10.1016/j.jcmr.2023.100008 ) found that the although under-researched, previous findings support the hypothesis that lighting is an important factor, yet that lighting is rarely mentioned in policy guidance. An under-review paper has found associations between lighting and both walking and cycling levels based on Strava data. |
