Synthesis and Screening of a Novel (dppz)-BTPhen Ligand for the separation of Americium from Europium
in Letters in Organic Chemistry
Description | Placing metal selective ligands on a series of supports leads to nitric acid concentration dependence of their selectvity for americium over europium. In addition, at low nitric acid concentration, americium and curium can be separated. Finally, a new family of ligands that selectively extracts precious metals has been developed. |
Exploitation Route | Ground water remediation, legacy nuclear waste clean-up, precious metal extraction and separation. |
