CsYb Droplets - Dilute Quantum Fluids Beyond the Mean-Field

Lead Research Organisation: Newcastle University
Department Name: Sch of Maths, Statistics and Physics

Abstract

Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.

Description We have advanced the computational models of beyond-mean-field Bose-Bose gases and used them to study the fundamental properties of how these systems look, how they oscillate and tease out the role of quantum fluctuations. The work is still underway.
Exploitation Route Other users can employ the models developed by us to conduct their own analyses of these systems or to develop/improve further.
Sectors Other

Title Harmonically-trapped Imbalanced Quantum Droplets
Description The figure generating scripts and data files (all in .csv format) are contained in the 'trap_drops_figs_data.tar.gz' file, with further details of the data given in the 'README.md' file. All figures are generated using the PGFplots package of LaTeX, except for the inset of Figure 1(c) which uses the Julia plotting package, PGFPlotsX.The techniques behind generating and extracting the attached data, all appear in the original manuscript.I generated all of the data using Rocket, Newcastle University's High Performance Computing service.

Organisation Polish Academy of Sciences
Department Center for Theoretical Physics
Country Poland
Sector Academic/University
PI Contribution We collaborated to develop a computational approach to describe one-dimensional Bose-Bose mixtures based on exact quantum Monte-Carlo results. As part of this, a PhD student of the Polish Academy of Sciences was hosted in Newcastle for 2 months for work with the group. The work led to a journal publication.
Collaborator Contribution The partners provided their expertise with the underlying model while we provided benchmarking data.
