Saving up or settling down: Home ownership over the life cycle
in Review of Economic Dynamics
| Description | I have explored the interconnections between homeownership, savings and inter-regional mobility. We have learned something about why households choose to own their own home and how those choices impact the economy around them. Households in cities with expensive land are less likely to own and less likely to have large mortgages (in percentage of house value terms). |
| Exploitation Route | Further explorations into why households choose to own are necessary. In particular, deeper examinations of rental markets are required. |
