Employee engagement, organisational performance and individual well-being: exploring the evidence, developing the theory
in The International Journal of Human Resource Management
Description | The Seminar Series included five events held at Universities around the UK, and included contributions from leading academics from the UK and other countries, as well as practitioners and policymakers. The series has led to an edited book 'Employee Engagement in Theory and Practice' to be published by Routledge in 2013, and a special issue of the International Journal of Human Resource Management, also to be published in 2013. Videos of the talks and copies of slides are available at the URL below. |
Exploitation Route | Presentations at the five seminars provide insight into how organisations can build and sustain high levels of engagement. These insights can be used by practitioners to develop their own engagement strategies. Several organisations have already made use of the ideas discussed at the events in this way. Employee engagement is a topic of relevance to all sectors and organisations that employ people; there has been a considerable amount of research showing that engaged workers enjoy higher levels of wellbeing and perform better. Therefore, understanding more about how to raise engagement levels is important for all employers. Academics with an interest in engagement will find the presentations of interest in developing their research programmes. The presentations are accessible to those who could not attend the seminars via the URL. The book and special issue will also be of interest and relevance to the development of the field, when they are published later in 2013. |
