Technical Summary
The Industrial Challenge Strategy Fund supplement is designed to bring diverse and flexible pump-priming activities to the Network with additional industrial involvement. This award will provide a support linkage, increasing UK Vaccine R&D activity around ‘proof of concept’ studies and can be used to support academic-industry partnerships and enhance academic and industry researchers' understanding of each other's needs and capabilities. This may be through people exchanges, creation of tecnology demonstrators, showcase events, workshops and pump-priming of grant activities.

| Results and Impact | The Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) Vaccine Networks (IVVN, BactiVac, HIC-Vac, IMPRINT and VALIDATE) hosted a veterinary and human vaccinology course in association with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (UN FAO), through the European Commission for the Control of Foot and Mouth Disease (EuFMD), on Monday 3rd to Friday 7th December 2018 at the Anantara Riverside Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand. 42 post-graduate students and early career researchers from the UK and LMICs attended the course which addressed aspects of human and animal vaccinology, the vaccine development process, biomanufacturing, regulatory and ethical issues. |

| Results and Impact | Approximately 200 delegates from multiple countries attend the 3rd IVVN conference in Vietnam. Talks were given by leading stakeholders as well as Early Career Researchers. Attendees came from: Nigeria ETHIOPIA Nigeria Pakistan Ghana Ethiopia Nigeria Indonesia United Kingdom Taiwan Australia Singapore Vietnam Saudi Arabia Nigeria United Kingdom Ghana Philippines Thailand Vietnam Scotland India UK Nepal Canada Thailand kenya UK Scotland. South Africa Thailand Taiwan UK Tanzania Australia Indonesia Bangladesh China Vietnam China Indonesia Philippines Spain Positive feedback was received from the conference. Collaborations were made. Feedback included: ' there is no other conference like it in terms of the breadth of research showcased within the veterinary vaccinology field'. The conference was also live streamed which allowed access to reach a lot further globally. |
