Schools Engineering Challenge: Lunar Rover

Abstract

The aim of the project is to develop an inter schools competition, to inspire young people to continue into higher education and pursue a career in science and engineering in the future.The main impact of the project will be in the future after the planning process proposed has been completed. The project team plan for the event to be held on an annual basis with Liverpool Museums and will look to secure funding to allow the project to take place.

Planned Impact

Full awareness and dissemination and the majority of the project impact will occur as a result of the pilot scheme conducted upon successful completion of the proposed aims and objectives. However the aim of the project team is to run a final event which will be a 'festival of science' to take place in the World Museum Liverpool. This will be disseminated through the Liverpool John Moores University news pages, local press and the museum press office.
Rasberry Pi is supported by a very strong online community; details of the project will be disseminated through the website to offer inspiration to the thousands of Pi users in the UK.
The principle applicant also intends to publish some related pedagogic research based around the problem based learning activities in prominent academic journals.
