Travel support for Edinburgh PATT observers 2014-2016

Abstract

Observations using world-class telescope facilities provide the backbone of much of extragalactic, galactic and exoplanet research. The IfA Edinburgh has a large and vibrant observational astronomy group with a long-standing history of winning competitive telescope time on leading facilities around the globe. This PATT linked grant requests travel and subsistence funds in support of IfA astronomers carrying out these observations over the period April 2014 to March 2016. It is a continuation of grant ST/H008594/1.

Description This grant funded travel and subsistence for observations to be carried out at world-leading telescopes around the globe. These observations, and their analysis funded through other grants, have led to a wide range of new astrophysics discoveries.
Exploitation Route The data have been analysed as part of other grants. Some of the observations were for public surveys and are being used by a wide range of astronomers.
