Solar-C Bridging Grant

Lead Research Organisation: University College London
Department Name: Mullard Space Science Laboratory

Abstract

Solar-C (EUVST) is a mission of international collaboration to study the Sun led by ISAS/JAXA that will revolutionise our understanding of energy release and transport in the solar atmosphere. Through the application of high resolution spectroscopy from the chromosphere to the corona, Solar-C EUVST will enable new understanding of solar wind acceleration processes and the origin of solar flare and coronal mass ejection triggers. The UK has been leading the development of the short-wavelength (SW) camera for the mission and the work to be undertaken with this funding will enable continued progression of the mechanical and electronic design aspects of the camera.
