How material antibodies raised against receptors in the neonatal brain can give rise to antibody-mediated brain disporters

Lead Research Organisation: University of Oxford
Department Name: Pharmacology

Abstract

The main aim of this project is to understand the developmental processes and molecular principles that underlie the formation of the striatum, a structure of the brain affected in many neurodevelopmental disorders including Tourette's syndrome and OCD, and the role of material antibodies in affecting the normal development of this brain structure. Outcomes of this discovery research will provide mechanistic insight into what aspects of brain development are sensitive to material antibody exposure and provide rationales for new therapies preventing material antibody-mediated pathologies.
