Abstract
This PhD thesis will examine the collections held by the Imperial War Museums relating to two British army officers, Major General David Lloyd Owen and Major General Orde Wingate, to explore three principle areas: the lived experience of warfare; understandings of leadership and heroism; and the remembrance of soldier-heroes.
