Wave Heating in the 3D Solar Corona
Lead Research Organisation:
University of St Andrews
Department Name: Mathematics and Statistics
Abstract
Traditionally, wave-based coronal heating models have been developed for relatively simple setups. In this project, we plan to model wave heating in more realistic environments, taking into account both the geometrical complexity and the dynamical evolution of coronal loop systems as well as changes in the background plasma due to the wave heating itself. 3D Numerical simulations using Lare3D will be combined with forward modelling will be used to derive observables for current and future instrumentation.
