Use of strong donor ligands in amino-borane and metallocenophane chemistry

The proposed research will involve an investigation of the use of strong donor ligands to
stabilise reactive main group monomers, which should enable solid-state structures to be
determined. Research will also focus on the potential use of carbenes to initiate ring
slippage of the cyclopentadienyl ligand from n5 to n3 in 'phane' chemistry and the reversibility
of this reactivity if successful. The work is relevant to the preparation of main group and
metal-containing polymers.
