Amplitude Analysis of B->DDKpi, and the decay B->K*mumu

Lead Research Organisation: University of Bristol
Department Name: Physics

Abstract

The most interesting indications of physics beyond the SM today is in B->K* mu mu. One of the main theoretical uncertainties in the interpretation of the observations in this decay mode are charm loops. B->DDK* and B->DDKpi provide important information on this topic. This thesis will study in detail the decay B->DDK* and B->DDKpi to improve our understanding of the amplitude structure of this decay and the charm loop contributions to B->K*mumu. The LHCb RICH is crucial for the clean datasets needed for this analysis. The alignment of the LHCb RICH, and the upgrade of the LHCb RICH mirrors will complement the analysis work in this project.
