Investigations of the Cosmic Web at High Redshifts
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Central Lancashire
Department Name: Jeremiah Horrocks Institute
Abstract
This PhD programme will be concerned with the investigation of the cosmic web at redshifts z~1.0-2.5 using publicly-available datasets, mainly the SDSS, DR7QSO and DR12q quasar databases (and our derivatives such as Mgll and Fell databases) and the Planck CMB databases. A particular emphasis will be on the relation of the LQGs to the CMB.

Description | Poster presentation at International Centre for Theoretical Physics cosmology summer school |
Form Of Engagement Activity | A talk or presentation |
Part Of Official Scheme? | No |
Geographic Reach | International |
Primary Audience | Postgraduate students |
Results and Impact | The purpose of the summer school was to provide an introduction to the current state of research in theoretical cosmology. It was attended by around 150 people, predominantly theoretical cosmology graduate students. I presented my poster, based on my observational research to date and associated journal publication, during an official session, and it remained on display for the rest of the week. It sparked some interesting conversations with theoreticians about the role of observations, inadvertent observational biases, and statistical analyses. |

Description | Poster presentation at National Astronomy Meeting |
Form Of Engagement Activity | A talk or presentation |
Part Of Official Scheme? | No |
Geographic Reach | National |
Primary Audience | Postgraduate students |
Results and Impact | The National Astronomy Meeting is a major annual UK astronomy conference, attended by professional astronomers and students from the UK and worldwide. I presented my poster and discussed my results with a number of students, academics, and the event photographer. |
