Top quark measurements with the ATLAS detector at the LHC

Lead Research Organisation: Royal Holloway University of London
Department Name: Physics

Abstract

The thesis project will first involve software development in view of evaluating the performance of the future LiTrack trigger system which is part of the ATLAS Phase 2 upgrade. The student will also analyse ATLAS data taken at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, the highest energy ever reached by a particle accelerator, in order to measure critical properties of the top quark. In addition the student will participate in crucial detector operations while on Long Term Attachment at CERN.
