The fundamental forces and particles of nature

Abstract

With the evidence of neutrino oscillations which has been obtained in the recent past, neutrino masses and mixing have been firmly established. New questions are open for the future: what are the values of the unknown parameters in neutrino physics, what is the origin of the measured neutrino masses and mixing in theories beyond the Standard Model and what is the role of massive neutrinos in astrophysical objects and in the Early Universe? The project will study the reach of present and future experimental setups and their sensitivity to the known and unknown neutrino parameters. Once the neutrino parameters are measured with sufficient accuracy, this information will be critical in order to understand the theory beyond the Standard Model at the origin of neutrino masses and mixing. The project will focus on high energy and low energy models, looking at their theoretical motivations and at their phenomenological signatures and cosmological implications.
