Abstract
In this project, we will develop new models of the emission and absorption properties of the intergalactic and circumgalactic medium combining novel hydrodynamic simulations with advanced radiative transfer techniques. The project will focus on connecting the properties of the circumgalactic medium on small scales with the properties of the intergalactic medium at larger scales, as probed by spectroscopy both in absorption and emission. By generating mock observables for emission and absorption lines, this study will provide state-of-the art predictions and modeling for ongoing and future surveys (such as DESI and MUSE programmes at VLT), which are providing and will provide an unprecedented view of the nature of the intergalactic/circumgalactic medium as a function of redshift.
