New Methods for the Construction of Heterocyclic Fluorine-Containing Amines

Lead Research Organisation: University of Nottingham
Department Name: Sch of Chemistry

Abstract

The project will investigate the synthesis of a family of fluorine-containing spirocyclic amines for use in drug discovery projects. This will be achieved by developing a novel photoredox-catalyzed radical cyclisation reaction using commercially available catalysts based on ruthenium and iridium. We will also investigate the use of organic photoredox systems to provide complementary cyclisation methods. Of particular interest will be the synthesis of orthogonally protected spirocyclic diamines as well as the synthesis of fluorine-containing analogues of active pharmaceutical ingredients and other bioactive compounds.
