Assessing The Role And Motivations Of Women In Far-Right Groups In The Uk And Germany

A comparative case study that gives a valuable insight into women's particular motivations behind joining such groups. The visibility of women in the far right is often lost in mainstream narratives surrounding far-right radicalisation more generally, except in 'exceptional' cases, such as that of Beate Zschäpe of the Nationalist Socialist Underground (NSU) in Germany. Developing a case that illustrates how important it is to centre gender in our analyses of extremism so that we can assess gendered assumptions regarding women's political subjectivity. Women were, and are, active in extremist groups across the three countries in question.
