Applications of well-defined nanoparticles made by living CDSA in nanomedicine and optoelectronics

Lead Research Organisation: University of Bristol
Department Name: Chemistry

Abstract

The aim of this research is to synthesise, characterise block copolymers containing a crystallisable n-conjugated core such as poly(thiophene), poly(selenophene) and poly(fluorene) (Fig. 1). The self-assembly behaviour of these block copolymers will be studied and exploited for applications in nanomedicine and optoelectronics. Potential applications in nanomedicine include the use of these materials for drug delivery as well as chemical and biochemical sensing. For optoelectronic applications, these materials could be used to develop new photodiodes, organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) or organic field-effect transistors (OFETs).
