Exploratory Modelling

Lead Research Organisation: University of St Andrews
Department Name: Computer Science

Abstract

Simulation is a useful technique, allowing understanding of systems that would be expensive or impractical to adjust/experiment with in the real-world. However it is often inaccessible due to the expertise required both to use the necessary software and to develop the underlying model. This research aims to understand the problems that prevent a larger group of the population taking advantage of modelling and simulation techniques and then, hopefully, to reduce them. It initially focusses on agent-based modelling.
