Abstract
My project involves analysing the spectra of sub-stellar bodies to determine their compositions, which may allow us to constrain their formation and evolution. To do this analysis, I am using atmospheric retrieval methods which derive molecular abundances and pressure-temperature profiles by fitting forward models to an observed spectrum.
Currently, I am analysing brown dwarf spectra with the aim of constraining their compositions and placing constraints on their formation. This also involves adapting the retrieval method to brown dwarf atmospheres.
In the future, I will apply this method to other objects and continue to develop the retrieval method in order to adapt to the increasing quality of the available data.
