Transmission Spectroscopy of Hot Jupiters and Neptunes
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Manchester
Department Name: Physics and Astronomy
Abstract
The aim of this project is to enable the automated selection of
transiting exoplanet candidates for transmission spectroscopy follow-up. This project will
develop an exoplanet atmosphere fitting routine and also metrics that classify how new
transmission spectroscopy data improves model discrimination. This work will become a
central component within the overall automated target selection pipeline being
developed by SPEARNET (Spectroscopy and Photometry of Exoplanetary Atmospheres
Network). SPEARNET is a UK-Thai collaboration which is using a heterogeneous telescope
network to select and follow-up exoplanet transiting systems.
