Abstract
This is a PhD research project in Physics.
The aim of the project is to detect and control electronic spins associated with spin-active defects embedded in electronic devices. We will focus on Si vacancies and divacancies in SiC and on Si vacancies in diamond, with two goals: (i) electrically control the charging states of the defects, for quantum information applications; (ii) use the defects' spins as localized quantum sensor to measure parameters of interest for the devices.
The first phase of the project will address the construction of a custom confocal microscope for optically-detected magnetic resonance, equipped to control spins programmable by radio-frequency pulses.
