The nature and properties of high-redshift starburst galaxies

Lead Research Organisation: Durham University
Department Name: Physics

Abstract

The project will be primarily observational and will involve working as part of a small team at Durham to exploit statistical samples of sources selected from surveys with the SCUBA-2 camera, and the Atacama Large Millimetre Array and NOEMA interferometers. The goal is to identify large numbers of luminous dust-obscured galaxies across the whole range of environments and in all phases of their life cycle and then use these samples to understand how they are formed and what present-day galaxies they evolve into.
