New Modes of Interactivity for an Automated Culture

Lead Research Organisation: University of Sunderland
Department Name: Sch of Arts and Design

Abstract

Within a culture where Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly embedded, this research proposal seeks to explore possibilities for new human computer interaction employing AI tools including machine learning (ML) for use within new media art. Drawing on my experience as a practicing artist who has been collaboratively engaged with data-driven research using relational databases and public participation, this research aims to provide an opportunity for individual creative practitioners and arts organisations to cultivate experimental uses of AI technologies, and in so doing reimagine bridges between art and audiences.
