Applying Monte Carlo techniques to stellar evolution and nucleosynthesis models

Lead Research Organisation: University of Edinburgh
Department Name: Sch of Physics and Astronomy

Abstract

Studying the relationship between stellar structure, nucleosynthesis processes and observed isotopic and elemental abundances is indispensable to test and expand understanding of stellar evolution and the processes responsible for the formation of the chemical elements in stars. In this project, Monte Carlo techniques will be applied to stellar evolution and nucleosynthesis models to study the effects of nuclear physics uncertainties on elemental abundances produced by stars.
