Exploring fiction as a means of holistic anti-prejudice education in schools

In mind of the governmental objective of increased
inclusion of marginalised groups in schools and the perceived
ineffectuality of existing interventions, I would like to take an
interdisciplinary approach to researching prejudice education.
This proposal concerns researching the para-social contact
hypothesis, the idea that narratives can act as a kind of
extension of consciousness, as a medium of remedying
prejudice. In doing so, I wish to investigate the practicality
and effect of introducing fiction concerning characters who
celebrate diversity as a means of anti-prejudice education.
This research is necessary given that it wishes to investigate a
low cost, practical intervention based on the anti-prejudice
benefits of reading certain types of fiction.
