The role of expectation formation in fostering investment in skills and reducing poverty.

Abstract

I plan to examine how firms and individuals form expectations by exploiting two unique longitudinal data sets.

To this end, a specific section of the surveys was designed to collect expectations over time to study two different applications: expected returns to investment in innovation at the firm level and parental expected returns to secondary school education. After understanding how firms and individuals form expectations, I will try to relate this to their investment decisions.
