Theoretical studies of circumbinary discs and planets

Lead Research Organisation: Queen Mary University of London
Department Name: Astronomy Unit

Abstract

This project will utilise computer simulations performed on high performance computing facilities to examine the evolution of discs and planets that are orbiting a pair of binary stars. The project is aimed at understanding the origin and evolution of the 10 circumbinary planet discovered by the Kepler mission, and to make predictions for future planet hunting projects such as TESS and PLATO
