Abstract
This study focuses on the way in which various first language varieties of English in south-east Wales affect learners' intonation and rhythm when learning and speaking the Welsh Language. The project will provide the first comparative phonetic evaluation of learners and fluent speakers from this region and directly impact the developing debate surrounding the teaching and learning of pronunciation in the Welsh for Adults sector.
