Single Molecule Spectroscopy of Organic Semiconductors

Lead Research Organisation: University of Glasgow
Department Name: School of Chemistry

Abstract

JACS: F100
This PhD will focus on building, commissioning and using a single molecule spectroscopy setup to study individual organic semiconductor molecules/polymer chains. Initially, it will involve development of a working confocal fluorescence setup on an optical table as well as optics building. From here, there will be opportunity to establish working methodologies for novel measurements and establish baseline measurements on known materials. This will then extend into looking at the photophysics and spectroscopy of new organic semiconductor materials. The PhD will involve sample preparation, optics building, measurements, paper writing, attending conferences and public outreach activities.
